Work had been relentless for Phillip—loud, demanding, and overwhelming in a way that lingered long after the day had ended. Craving just an hour of quiet and a brief escape from the constant noise, he headed into the woodland where the bluebells had arrived in full force this spring, carpeting the forest floor in soft purples beneath the fresh canopy above.

Everything about the morning felt calm.

Phillip set up slowly and almost reverently, planting the tripod carefully amongst the flowers whilst composing the scene through the camera. With every passing minute, the stillness of the woodland began to settle around him. For a moment, it felt as though he had the entire forest to himself.

Then came a rustle.

Faint at first, hidden somewhere beyond the bluebells. Then clearer—a low playful growl, like a puppy discovering its voice for the very first time. Turning carefully, Phillip realised with complete surprise that he had unknowingly settled within sight of a fox cub den.

Time seemed to pause.

Carefully reaching for the long lens and keeping a respectful distance, he allowed the moment to unfold naturally. Every movement became softer, every sound quieter. Excitement coursed through him as these small wild lives slowly revealed themselves amongst the woodland—curious, gentle, and completely unaware of the impact they were having.

In that fleeting hour, the noise of everyday life disappeared entirely.

And in its place, something wild and beautiful emerged from the bluebells.

Printed in Dale Abbey

Every print is personally handled by Phillip from start to finish at his home studio in Dale Abbey. Using the Canon PIXMA PRO-200S, each photograph is carefully printed, checked, and prepared by hand to ensure it meets the highest possible standard before leaving the studio.

Rather than outsourcing production, Phillip believes in remaining closely connected to every stage of the printing process. From selecting the final image and adjusting tones for print, to reviewing detail, texture and overall presentation, every piece is produced with the same level of care and attention that went into capturing the original photograph in the field.

Each print is created in small numbers, allowing time for precision, consistency and quality rather than mass production.

Quality control is an essential part of the process. From colour and contrast to paper finish and detail retention, every print is overseen personally by Phillip to ensure the final piece reflects the atmosphere and emotion of the original scene as faithfully as possible.
